For Immediate Release – Films We Like is thrilled to announce the Canadian acquisition of Reinas (Queens) by Swiss-Peruvian director Klaudia Reynicke-Candeloro. Reinas premiered at the 2024 Sundance International Festival and Berlin International Film Festival, where it took home the Grand Prix for best film in Generation KPlus.
Klaudia Reynicke-Candeloro’s partially autobiographical coming of age story, is set in the summer of 1992 - a turbulent time in Lima, Peru. A mother and her two daughters decide to leave their homeland, but a goodbye reunion with the daughter's estranged father brings up contradictory emotions of regret, hope and fear.
