An expertly executed slow-burn thriller reminiscent of Hitchcock's Rear Window – Jesse Wente, TIFF
Following its North American Premiere at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, Romanian director Radu Muntean’s One Floor Below opens in Toronto on January 22 at the TIFF Bell Lightbox.
A key figure of the Romanian New Wave, Radu Muntean’s minimalist and character driven approach in One Floor Below is at the centre of his new film about people who he says are “like all of us, made up of weaknesses rather than strengths”.
In One Floor Below, Patrascu, after being the sole unfortunate witness to a domestic quarrel that ends up in a murder, now finds himself at odds with two very close neighbours: one is the murderer. The other is his very own conscience.
