CHEVALIER (2015)
Six friends set out on a luxury yacht for an ideal fishing trip on the Aegean Sea. Although their trip will include games, it doesn’t turn out to be all that fun. As the sextet of buddies embark on their seafaring vacation, a bizarre competition overtakes the group and what should be an idyllic trip. Soon the six men discover that the only thing as fragile as their tenuous friendship, is their masculinity.
LETTERS FROM THE BIG MAN (2011)
Disavowing romantic entanglements and escaping into the forrest to find one’s self…who hasn't been there? The trouble is, when Sarah, a fiercely individualistic artist, does just that and embarks into the wilds of southwestern Oregon on a journey of self-discovery, she winds up forming an unlikely relationship with non other than Big Foot. Soon, Sarah finds out that even in the Kalmiopsis Wilderness, protecting her privacy and that of her new friend is more difficult than she ever could have imagined.
fort tilden(2014)
For hip Brooklynites, Fort Tilden is the perfect sea-side antidote to the sweltering heat of summer in the Five Burroughs. When Allie and Harper meet two good-looking guys at a party and promptly invite themselves to join in on a trip to Queens’ coastal paradise, it seems like the two friends have just made the perfect summer plans. Unfortunately for Allie and Harper their trip out to Fort Tilden is fraught with wrong turns and misfortune, making for a side splitting and biting buddy-road trip for metropolitan millennial of the mid-naughts.
PORCUPINE LAKE (2017)
Situated in the Canadian Shield on the southeastern tip of Lake Huron, Port Severn seems like the archetypal local for summer north of the 49th parallel. When Be a travels to the lakeside town to spend her summer with her father, she is desperate to make a friend. When Bea a meets Kate, not only does she find the friendship she has been longing for, but a much deeper connection. This tender and astute portrait of young love epitomizes the experience of summer in Northern Ontario.
MID-AUGUST LUNCH (2008)
Sometimes, the only thing better than going away on vacation is enjoying a holiday by relaxing at home. But for Gianni, who lives with his elderly mother, when the Ferragosto rolls around he finds himself with some unexpected house guests. In order to square up on unpaid rent, Gianni agrees to look after his landlord’s mother for the duration of the iconic Italian holiday. Soon enough, Gianni isn’t just looking after his mother and his landlord’s mother, but also his landlord’s aunt, and the mother of his doctor. This gang of disparate house guests come together for good food in a sweet comedy that is equal parts MY DINNER WITH ANDRE and THE ODD COUPLE.
