Films We Like has acquired the Canadian rights to Jafar Panahi’s No Bears, winner of the Special Jury Prize at the 79th Venice Film Festival and official selections at the Toronto and the New York Film Festivals.
Panahi, who has won top prizes at Venice and Berlin film festivals, and is the director of films including The Circle, The White Balloon, and 3 Faces is currently serving six years in jail for criticizing the Iranian government.
Panahi continues his interrogation of authority in a story of a couple attempting to secure fake passports so that they can flee to France, and another where the director unwittingly becomes involved in the politics of the village in which he’s staying.
