To celebrate the 4K remaster of Tales from the Gimli Hospital Redux by Guy Maddin, Canadian film distributor Films We Like has commissioned Winnipeg-based artist and designer Galen Johnson to create a limited edition print signed by director Guy Maddin. 

This original artwork is printed on metallized paper board using UV inks and limited availability. Purchases can be made on the Films We Like website starting on September 9th, 2022. 

Tales from the Gimli Hospital Redux premieres September 10 at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), to be followed by a theatrical release Sept 30th at TIFF Bell Lightbox (Toronto).

 

About Tales from the Gimli Hospital Redux

Guy Maddin’s highly acclaimed first feature, released in 1988, is now regarded as one of the true cult hits on the midnight movie circuit. 

The new 4K digital remaster was supervised by Guy Maddin using original printing elements provided by the TIFF Cinematheque Library.  The digital remaster is made possible by the generous financial support of Telefilm Canada, in partnership with TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival).

Guy Maddin is a Canadian filmmaker with numerous shorts and 11 feature films to his credit, including the Emmy Award-winning ballet film Dracula — Pages From A Virgin’s Diary (2002); The Saddest Music in the World (2003); My Winnipeg (2007); and US National Society of Film Critics Best Experimental Film Prize-winners Archangel (1990) and The Heart of the World (2000). He is also a member of The Order of Canada & The Order of Manitoba.
