North American Premiere TIFF 2022

Films We Like, in association with Janus Films and Sideshow, announced today the acquisition of EO by legendary Polish director Jerzy Skolimowski. The film premiered in competition at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival where it was awarded the Jury Prize.

With his first film in seven years, director Jerzy Skolimowski directs one of his most free and visually inventive films yet, following the travels of a nomadic grey donkey named EO. After being removed from the traveling circus, which is the only life he’s ever known, EO begins a trek across the Polish and Italian countryside, experiencing cruelty and kindness in equal measure, all the while observing the follies and triumphs of humankind.

Last year, Films We Like, Sideshow and Janus Films partnered on the release of Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s Drive My Car, which won the Academy Award® for Best International Feature, and was nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay. It was the first Japanese film ever nominated for Best Picture and grossed over $2.3 million in North America, while sweeping critics awards for Best International Feature nationwide. It also won the Gotham Award, Golden Globe, BAFTA, and Independent Spirit Award for Best International Feature.

EO will have its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and will be released this fall in theatres across Canada.
