WEIRDOS, directed by critically acclaimed Bruce McDonald is making its Canadian theatrical debut in select cities across Canada on March 17th. The film stars Canadian actor, Dylan Authors (Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium), Young Artist Award winner, Julia Sarah Stone, Emmy nominee, Molly Parker, and actor/producer Allan Hawco (Frontier, Republic of Doyle), in a romantic drama set in 1976 Nova Scotia.
SYNOPSIS
Fifteen year-old Kit (Dylan Authors), is dreaming of a more glamorous life in the big city, away from the small town where he lives with his father (Allan Hawco) and grandmother (Cathy Jones). Enlisting the help of his girlfriend Alice (Julia Sara Stone), they hitchhike towards a new home with his glamorous, artistic mother Laura (Molly Parker). As Kit and Alice reach their final destination their relationship is tested as Kit approaches a realization that will change his life forever.
Film Release Information
The coming-of-age drama is set to hit theatres this week on March 17th in Toronto, Vancouver, Halifax, Calgary and Cobourg as well as additional theatres in Ottawa, Victoria and Waterloo on March 24th. The film will open in other markets and film festivals across the country over the coming months.
The film premiered at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival, and has since been featured at the Atlantic Film Festival, Calgary International Film Festival, Vancouver International Film Festival, Edmonton International Film Festival, Victoria Film Festival, and most recently the Berlin Film Festival.
