Films We Like is pleased to announce the acquisition of Canadian distribution rights to Ingrid Veninger’s upcoming feature length film Porcupine Lake.
Porcupine Lake is a story of bravery and the secret life of girls set in Northern Ontario during a hot and hazy summertime when adulthood has not yet arrived, but childhood is quickly vanishing. Casting begins June 10th.
Porcupine Lake was supported by Academy Award Winner Melissa Leo in Veninger’s pUNK Films Femmes Lab launched at the Whistler Film Festival in 2014. Upon reading the first draft Melissa Leo said, “this is a story that every women carries inside her.”
The second draft was developed at the inaugural Screenwriters Lab at Hedgebrook where Veninger was mentored by Jenny Bicks (The Big C) and Emmy-Award Winner Jane Anderson (Olive Kitteridge).
Porcupine Lake will be Produced and Directed by award-winning filmmaker Ingrid Veninger for her production company pUNK Films Inc. Produced with the participation of Telefilm Canada. Executive Producer is Randi Kirshenbaum.
Principal Photography is set to begin August 2016. Films We Like plans to release the film theatrically across Canada in the latter part of 2017.
