Wednesday, January 31, 2023 - Films We Like is delighted to present THE MONK AND THE GUN, Bhutan writer and director Pawo Choyning Dorji’s follow-up to his 2019 break out debut, the Academy Award nominated Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom, which premiered at last year’s Telluride and Toronto Film Festivals.
Pawo’s playful fable follows a Buddhist monk, who is tasked with finding a gun for his master during Bhutan’s political transition from a monarchy to democracy, which gives rise to a culture clash from traditional life to modernization.
