Films We Like is pleased to announce its acquisition of Canadian distribution rights to A Day in the Life of Jo: Chapter Phaedra, the second feature by acclaimed Greek filmmaker Jacqueline Lentzou (Moon, 66 Questions). The film premiered at the Venice International Film Festival in the Orizzonti section, where it won the Best Director Prize. It was followed by screenings at the New York Film Festival, BFI London Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival, and Busan International Film Festival. The film will be released in theatres next year.
Inspired by true events from 2008, A Day in the Life of Jo: Chapter Phaedra combines the cosmic and mundane as it follows Jo (Evita Andriopoulou)—wild, melancholic, and only 15—whose ordinary life is about to be altered forever. Throughout the day, as she misses the school bus, attends class, and finds a new friend in classmate Phaedra, subtle signs and symbols from the dream world quietly surface around her, but she fails to recognize them before a shocking incident forces Jo to undergo an ethereal transformation.
