Following its successful World Premiere at the Cannes Film Festival and North American Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, acclaimed Japanese filmmaker Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s haunting road movie DRIVE MY CAR opens in-cinemas across Canada beginning with a special presentation on November 26 at Toronto’s Bell Lightbox.
Adapted from Haruki Murakami’s short story, DRIVE MY CAR travels a path of love, loss, acceptance, and peace.
In DRIVE MY CAR, Yusuke Kafuku (Hidetoshi Nishijima), a renowned stage actor and director is happily married to Oto (Reika Kirishima), a screenwriter. However, Oto suddenly dies, leaving behind a secret. Forced to confront painful truths raised from his past, Yusuke begins - with the help of his driver (Toko Miura) - to face the haunting mysteries his wife left behind.
