With the indefinite closure of theatres nationwide due to the global outbreak of COVID-19, the Canadian film industry is facing an unprecedented challenge. We applaud the efforts of theatres that have made it a priority to pay their employees, but unfortunately many workers have been laid off or had their hours drastically cut. In the spirit of solidarity with our community, we at Films We Like would like to help those cinema workers who are in need... by encouraging you all to stay safe at home as much as possible.
For the next few weeks, we will be offering a curated selection of our titles on AppleTV for a special 99¢ rental price. All proceeds collected during these dates will be donated to the Canadian Cinema Workers Fund, an independent fundraising campaign to help pay out-of-work cinema employees in Canada.
The promo dates will be as follows.

CARMINE STREET GUITARS (dir. Ron Mann, 2019)
Once the centre of the New York bohemia, Greenwich Village is now home to lux restaurants, and buzzer door clothing stores catering to the nouveau riche. But one shop in the heart of the Village remains resilient to the encroaching gentrification: Carmine Street Guitars. There, custom guitar maker Rick Kelly and his young apprentice Cindy Hulej, build handcrafted guitars out of reclaimed wood from old hotels, bars, churches and other local buildings. Nothing looks or sounds quite like a Rick Kelly guitar, which is the reason they are embraced by the likes of Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, Patti Smith, Jim Jarmusch, just to name a few. Featuring a cast of prominent musicians and artists, the film captures five days in the life of Carmine Street Guitars, while examining an all-too-quickly vanishing way of life.
March 31st - April 6th
BECOMING NOBODY (dir. Jamie Catto, 2019)
Using a mix of interviews and archival recordings of his presentations, the American spiritual teacher Ram Dass, born Richard Alpert, tells the story of his life, while summarizing his primary teachings.
April 7th – 13th
