FILMS WE LIKE acquires UN CERTAIN REGARD winner

THE INVISIBLE LIFE OF EURÍDICE GUSMÃO

 NORTH AMERICAN DEBUT TIFF ‘19

Films We Like has acquired the Canadian rights to Karim Aïnouz’s drama The Invisible Life of Eurídice Gusmão based on the beloved novel by Martha Batalha. The Brazilian film won Un Certain Regard’s top prize at this years Cannes Film Festival and will have its North American debut at the Toronto International Film Festival. Amazon Studios recently announced the acquisition of U.S. rights to the film from German sales agent The Match Factory.

About the Film
Set in Rio de Janeiro in 1950, two sisters make their way through life each mistakenly believing the other is living out her dreams half a world away.  The latest feature from prolific Brazilian auteur Karim Aïnouz (Madame Satã) is a sprawling melodrama about feminine resilience. Diana Sanchez, Senior Director, TIFF writes, “It retains the unfettered sensuality and sumptuous splendor that render all his films so uniquely transporting.”
