A FILM BY HAL ASHBY
NON-THEATRICAL: AVAILABLE FOR TV, VOD & FILM FESTIVALS ONLY
Directed by Hal Ashby, this highly lauded 1983 Neil Young concert film has only seen limited release on LaserDisc.
Presented as an episode of Trans TV, the show finds Neil Young at an interesting artistic crossroads, which is illustrated by an opening solo acoustic set that moves into a song cycle of his experimental and electronic Trans period, followed with a closing set of rockabilly music accompanied by Neil’s band The Shocking Pinks.
“Neil is in Kraftwerk meets Gene Vincent and Bo Diddley mode with some of the bits feeling downright Daft Punkian… an entertaining document of Young at his most whacked-out, unpredictable, contrarian and prophetic.” – Dangerous Minds
